Today, ladies, I’m afraid to say is all about the gentlemen. Before you get upset, let me remind you that every other day of our lives will and should be about us.
In case you haven’t noticed… (insert sarcasm) Sex in the City 2 is in theaters!
Exciting for those of us that have watched every episode of every season making comparisons to our lives (or in the case of Samantha, very distant friends lives) this is great news. Unfortunately for the men, they are being pushed to the side yet again, having to entertain themselves with video games, television or consuming and learning about all of our great products!
But today, my friends, I found out about a website that is the men’s parallel web universe to SATC2 and will be another way to keep them distracted while us fembots watch Carrie wear various sparkly, weird outfits.
How did I find this wonderful pot of gold did you ask?
Well… I was feeling quite guilty about taking that free popcorn yesterday and running away without so much as making eye contact with the exhibitors. Maybe it’s all the years of Irish Catholic guilt working on me. Maybe I was hungry…
Today I decided to take a visit back to the scene of the crime and I stumbled upon a group of really friendly people working for a company called Break Media. And they had so much more to offer than just free popcorn (oh …. and you know I took another sample today).
Break Media, led by the flagship site Break, has coined themselves as “the premier online entertainment that speaks to, understands and listens to young men”. Understands men… Interesting.
Micah Latter, Regional Sales Manager for Break Media, who you will see in the video, walked me through a bit of their history as well as my favorite aspect of their site – the video voting. If you have a really funny video, you can upload it to their site where users and readers will vote on the funniest video of the day. If yours makes it to the main page and is rated as funniest, you win $600! Pretty nice deal – you get to record a hilarious video, have fun doing it and then potentially win some cash. Or, as is my case, this is a great source for finding really funny stuff to watch.
In the clip, Micah does a much better job explaining some other websites within the Break Media network including Made Men, which is a men’s style site with tips on all things related to men. They have a dedicated e-mail/newsletter which reaches 300,000 subscribers called Made Mail (get it? male… mail…) and sends all those great tips – ranging from how to pick up ladies to what vitamins to take– direct to your inbox.
Mountain Dew, one of PepsiCo’s brands, ran a promotion with Made Men where readers had the option to vote on a favorite short video to be funded by Mountain Dew. Check out the winners - and while you’re at it, visit DewMocracy to vote for the next Mountain Dew flavor. There’s only six days left to vote!
All content on www.mademan.com is categorized by items that appeal most to their target audience of men 18-34:

Yep, that about sums it up.
