Carrie Wells

Carrie Wells has been with PepsiCo for 21 years, based in Valhalla, New York and working in BIS. Currently Carrie is part of the PepsiCollaboration Team. focused on delivering knowledge sharing & collaboration tools to the Enterprise. Prior to PepsiCollaboration, Carrie spent 19 years on the PI side of BIS; delivering Marketing, Sales, Finance & Operations solutions to our business partners. During her time in PI, she had an opportunity to visit PepsiCo locations in Latin America, Europe the Middle East and Asia. Carrie lives in Connecticut and has 3 children. She spends time volunteering in New York City and in her hometown. Carrie’s hobbies include cycling, skiing, reading and gardening. Currently, she is focusing on becoming a better photographer as she hopes to take some amazing pictures in Ghana.

Our Neighborhood in Ghana

The PepsiCorps team has been staying in the town of Denu, which is located in the Volta Region of Ghana. Denu is on the Gulf of Guinea and as a result, fishing and farming are the major sources of income. There is a belief in Ghana that if you do not work, you do not deserve to eat.  From what I have seen, everyone works hard; men pull in fish eight hours a day, and women chop wood, and fetch food and water shortly after giving birth. Read more

The First 24 Hours in Ghana

We have now been at the Vilcambaba Hotel a bit over 24 hours. It is a beautiful hotel with several open air sitting areas and rich vegetation. At this time we are the only guests. The Hotel staff has been so incredibly accommodating. They have fixed problems with electricity, air conditioning and water, so we are all now comfortable. We have taken all of our meals here so far and the food is excellent. Local food includes chicken, rice, plantains, fish and beef. Read more
