People of PepsiCo – Marie Quintana

Marie Quintana weighs in on the Possibilities... at PepsiCo: I think that my love for working with our Employee Resource Groups and harnessing their energy and passion for business development is only matched by the excitement that is unleashed when my peers and team members around the world bring their own personal passion, culture and traditions to the workplace. When you can connect your purpose or passion to your job, it’s one of the most amazing possibilities anyone could hope to have available to them. Read more

Putting Stock in Social Influence

As recruiters, it’s our profession to identify talent in which a company would want to invest (aka: hire, train, develop.) In the search for sound investments, we at PepsiCo try to look at much more than what you’d normally expect to find on a resume or spelled out in cover letters. Skills, experience and references are certainly a major component of every hiring decision – but it’s always been about connecting with the strongest candidates and digging past the bullet points and fancy fonts to successfully predict the impact each person might have on our business.Th Read more

Recruiting at SXSW?!

Originally published on RecruiterGuy. As SXSW Interactive week came to a close, I took a look at what our recruiting team had accomplished in Austin, TX. What I found most interesting was the realization that I was looking at measuring the success of our participation from a “recruiting” standpoint much differently than recruiters or recruiting management might expect. In fact, in speaking to anyone else in the staffing or employment space that attended the event – it’s very likely that we took an incredibly different approach to our attendance at this 5 day digital parade than anyone else. I’ll explain… Good recruiters are ALWAYS recruiting. So it’s not unusual to ask a recruiter what they’re doing at any event and receive from them a response that they’re looking for, or recruiting, top talent. Being 100% honest – it’s just in our... Mobile Possibilities… at SXSWi

Re-blogged from RecruiterGuy. So… Wow.  I’ve not only returned this year to SXSWi with great expectations ,but fun deliverables. As I’m writing from my hotel this morning in Austin, TX I’m reminded that I’m only on the 2nd day of the event and already feeling like I have connected with a week’s worth of people, heard a week’s worth of industry chatter and seen a week’s worth of after hours socializing.  It’s not overwhelming, as some might think…  It’s exciting. One of the things I’m the most excited about is the official release of the PepsiCo mobile app, “Possibilities…”  for Droid, iPhone and iPad devices in the US.  It’s something that our teams are proud to have been able to make available this month.  What we’re most proud of is not it’s release, however.  It’s the approach we took in creating what we believe is literally a “one... TALENT ENGAGEMENT IN CHINA

My journey this holiday season put me in Hong Kong for 4 days and Shanghai for another 2, which was enough time to recuperate from a time zone change that was more disruptive than I’d anticipated, but not long enough to allow me to feel like I’d seen enough of the country to say I’ve really “seen it.” Of course, I say this after experiencing things like the Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade, Victoria Peak, Wanchai, the Mid-levels Escalator, the Pudong Skyline and countless shops within Shanghai.

RECRUITING… DOWN UNDER.

I’m on a two week trip that covers a considerable portion of the globe (given the span of time) and where the focus is recruiting technology and marketing. The first part of my trip kicked off here in Australia where I was asked to be the keynote at the Social Media 101 event.

Recruitfest 2010 UNsummary

Last week there was a resounding “boom!” in the space that is the overlap between social media, conferences and the recruiting industry. It came to us on the 8th and it called itself, “Recruitfest.” And while it was billed to be the next in a series of ‘unconferences,’ I believe this wasn’t the case. Read more

Ahh, The Possibilities . . .

http://www.recruiterguy.net/general/the-possibilities.html Kindly reposted from The RecruiterGuy aka: Chris Hoyt. For more on Chris and Social Recruiting follow his blog here and @therecruiterguy. I knew when I joined the PepsiCo family to lead the recruitment marketing efforts I would be expected to work closely with teams around the globe to help recruiters be successful.  I knew in this newly created role that innovation and “best in class” effort would be the minimum expectation.  I knew that the possibilities related to what I was being asked to be a part of were potentially unlimited. What I didn’t realize was just how turbo-charged and ‘infinite’ those possibilities would be. Oh, I was a believer that things would move quickly and I’d be tasked with helping to drive a new focus but I was a whole 2 weeks into my new job when it began to sink in…  The level of ambition shared with me when I was being... #Onboarding at PepsiCo

Wow - what a ride. My first 30 days at PepsiCo have been the busiest and most travel-heavy 30 days I've experienced in a long time. I've worked directly with a workforce more diverse in their ideas, backgrounds, and cultures than I've ever met collectively within any single organization. I've pitched new ideas that, as I write this, are already in production. I've bounced crazy thoughts to teams that have increased the crazy (and awesome) factor exponentially - and were as excited as I was to play with the possibilities. And while I realize I'm still in the honeymoon phase of my new employment - all this has come at the low, low cost of looking like a gushing fanboy for a calendar month. Read more
