Meagan Smith

Meagan Smith has a unique background in both sustainability and business. Graduating from Northwestern University with a B.A. in Environmental Science, Meagan worked for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for five years as project manager of ecological restoration projects. Meagan joined PepsiCo after completing her M.B.A. from the University of Michigan. During her time at PepsiCo, Meagan has held a variety of marketing roles from executing marketing campaigns for Tropicana and managing the Rice-a-Roni and Near East brands, to helping lead Quaker’s re-positioning and advertising campaign. Meagan is also the founder and co-chair of the grassroots employee sustainability team, PepsiCo Green. In her most current role, Meagan is Director of PepsiCo’s Dream Machine recycling initiative, which aims to help increase the U.S. beverage container recycle rate through strategic partnerships with customers and recycling processors, and through consumer educational and marketing initiatives.

America Recycles Day 2011: Engaging a Community

Tuesday, November 15th, marked America Recycles Day (ARD). As someone who cares deeply about keeping the planet green, and as a PepsiCo Green ambassador, this is an important day to recognize. To give you a little background, ARD was created by national nonprofit and Dream Machine collaborator, Keep America Beautiful. The milestone is supported by many national and local nonprofits as well as sponsoring businesses, including PepsiCo and the Dream Machine recycling initiative. ARD is the only nationally recognized day dedicated to the promotion of recycling in the United States, and this November 15th marks the fourteenth year that Americans will host events across the country to help clean up communities and raise awareness of the importance of recycling.
