PepsiCo and IDB join efforts during the International Conference on Corporate Social Responsibility

Last Wednesday May 25th, Armando Mendiola, General Manager of PepsiCo Foods Central America and Caribbean, attended the International Conference on Corporate Social Responsibility, where he conducted a workshop on the importance of the incorporation of sustainable agriculture programs in the region for the development of local producers and for the creation of shared value solutions for our business, the planet and the communities where PepsiCo is present. These programs, mentioned Mendiola, are not possible without successful public-private partnerships, such as the one that we recently signed with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), last February during the visit of our President and CEO, Indra K. Nuestro Proyecto de Girasol en México: Productos más Saludables, Agricultores más Contentos y un Medio Ambiente más Sustentable

In English, click here. Read more

Healthier Products, Happier Farmers, a Sustainable Environment

We are really excited about a new sustainable agriculture project that we’re about to start in the Mexican countryside. It’s a plan, made in partnership with the Inter-American Development Bank, to promote the sunflower crop which, as you may know, is great for producing a healthier kind of oil that is low in saturated fats and more heart-friendly. It’s also one of those win-win situations.  The farmers will get more work, guaranteed income, micro-credits, technology transfers, and training, all of which will help them prosper today, and in the future.  We will get a steady supply of high-quality oil to produce healthier products.  And, of course, this will all be done through a sustainable agricultural model that will take care of our environment. In fact, there is much more to this story of the farmers and their lands; and, being able to help them, while at the... Read more
