America Recycles Day 2011: Engaging a Community

Tuesday, November 15th, marked America Recycles Day (ARD). As someone who cares deeply about keeping the planet green, and as a PepsiCo Green ambassador, this is an important day to recognize. To give you a little background, ARD was created by national nonprofit and Dream Machine collaborator, Keep America Beautiful. The milestone is supported by many national and local nonprofits as well as sponsoring businesses, including PepsiCo and the Dream Machine recycling initiative. ARD is the only nationally recognized day dedicated to the promotion of recycling in the United States, and this November 15th marks the fourteenth year that Americans will host events across the country to help clean up communities and raise awareness of the importance of recycling. Leading with Passion Can Take You to New Places

My passion drove me to start PepsiCo Green in 2007 – a grassroots volunteer employee group working to promote environmental sustainability within PepsiCo and our communities. I had no idea where this would lead but I knew I had the drive to make it a success. Read more

This School Year Brings New Recycling Incentives for the Dream Machine Recycle Rally

It’s hard to believe that summer is nearly over and that soon it will be back-to-school for kids across the U.S. You may recall my last Living the Promise blog post about my experience presenting PepsiCo’s first Dream Machine Recycle Rally grand prize to St. Pascal School of Chicago, Illinois. The students of St. Pascal collected the most beverage containers per student in the Rally. Today, we announced the launch of the 2011-2012 Dream Machine Recycle Rally with new contest opportunities. Dream Green School Makeover Prize Awarded

Yesterday, on behalf of the Dream Machine Recycle Rally, I had the privilege to present the program’s first grand prize, a $100,000 Dream Green School Makeover, to St. Pascal School of Chicago, Illinois. The school recycled more than 2,286 plastic bottles and aluminum cans—the most per student of all eligible participants. St. Pascal plans to use the funds to build an energy-efficient computer lab powered by solar energy, along with a few smaller environmentally-focused projects.  We’re thrilled to help St. Pascal along its journey of greening the school and congratulate them on their achievement! It is so exciting to be a part of this first year of the Dream Machine Recycle Rally. The Dream Machine Recycle Rally –a pillar of the broader Dream Machine program – is a nationwide school recycling program designed to raise awareness among students, grades K-12, about the importance of recycling, and... Performance with Purpose

Rebecca Oppenheimer with the PepsiCo Dream MachineIt seems like a lot of big companies today talk the talk… and it's no wonder when you think about how easy it is with all the Tweeting, posting to Facebook and blogging going on in our world. But how many companies really back up all the talk and actually walk the walk? Maybe it's just me, but it's hard to sort through all the corporate do-gooder chatter and figure out what's real and then even harder to do something besides just listen to it. I'm lucky that working at Pepsi I get to see firsthand that it's not all smoke and mirrors and that I can get involved. The people here are seriously committed to making a difference by leveraging PepsiCo's status as one of the biggest food and beverage companies in the world. I am proud to tell people where I work and proud that PepsiCo recognizes that all of us have the power to do real, local, everyday good and can start doing it now. Read more

PepsiCo’s ‘Dream Machine Day’ at Tropicana Field

On Friday, July 30, 2010, the Tampa Bay Rays played host to the New York Yankees at Tropicana Field in front of a sold out crowd who helped kick-off ‘Dream Machine Day at Tropicana Field.' Since the stadium is newly equipped with five PepsiCo Dream Machine kiosks, I was on hand to represent PepsiCo and I even got the chance to sing “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” during the 7th inning stretch. J.R. Martinez, star of ABC-TV soap opera "All My Children" and a graduate of the Florida State University EBV program, was on hand to throw out the ceremonial first pitch. J.R., who suffered severe burns to more than 40 percent of his body while serving with the Army in Iraq, went through countless surgeries and hours of... Read more

Meet Jenny Danzi

I have an awesome job. I get to listen to engaging consumers from all over the country, tour state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities, work with incredibly talented graphic designers, and taste test delicious new top-secret products. On top of all that, I work with amazing people who are doing truly inspiring work to bring Performance with Purpose to life. There are teams of people dedicated to sustainability, health and wellness, and innovative ways to be a force for good in our communities. And there are individuals who do great things that move our local communities forward—we get to volunteer with students through national organizations, we celebrate new artists and technologies, we walk with our coworkers to fight AIDS and breast cancer, we pioneer new marketing techniques, and we train employees to be leaders that value every stakeholder. Every week I learn about another new initiative, whether it’s our... Read more
