The #Promise Conference

Yesterday PepsiCo brought hundreds of people together in a trendy Manhattan workspace to discuss the role of social and mobile media in driving social good. This inaugural one-day conference during Internet Week was called the #Promise (the hashtag is a reference to Twitter for you non-tweeters) and was sponsored by PepsiCo in partnership with ThinkSocial. Not only did the topic, speakers and panels fascinate me, but in the true spirit of the event, the role of technology spoke for itself: all day long people tweeted their questions, opinions, concerns (and even “Who keeps coughing in the back? Shh!”) to a live stream which was projected on two giant screens in front of the room. Corporate Cases The event featured speakers from five large companies (PepisCo, Timberland, GE, MTV and Nokia) who addressed how social and mobile media are changing the way their companies achieve social good.... Meet Jenny Danzi

I have an awesome job. I get to listen to engaging consumers from all over the country, tour state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities, work with incredibly talented graphic designers, and taste test delicious new top-secret products. On top of all that, I work with amazing people who are doing truly inspiring work to bring Performance with Purpose to life. There are teams of people dedicated to sustainability, health and wellness, and innovative ways to be a force for good in our communities. And there are individuals who do great things that move our local communities forward—we get to volunteer with students through national organizations, we celebrate new artists and technologies, we walk with our coworkers to fight AIDS and breast cancer, we pioneer new marketing techniques, and we train employees to be leaders that value every stakeholder. Every week I learn about another new initiative, whether it’s our... Read more

Meet Rebecca Oppenheimer

Okay. So I’m going to be totally honest about something here.   For the last few years I’ve been staunchly resisting any sort of social media. I scoffed at MySpace and ignored the whole Friendster thing way back when. I held out on Facebook for years. I ridiculed Twitter and made juvenile jokes about its name. But lately as the world has moved on without me, I’ve quit my complaining, quietly joined Facebook, and started hiding my total lack of social media savvy like it’s a deep dark secret. Well – I’m ready to swallow my pride, admit that I was wrong about all these things being passing fads, and join the 21st century. I’ve recently become a member of the leadership committee launching Conn3ct, PepsiCo’s employee resource group focused on millennials. I now have 59  (yes, 59!) friends on Facebook (I realize that’s not really all that impressive, but... Read more
